CREW Pittsburgh
Donations have
been made annually to the Foundation by CREW Pittsburgh. The annual golf outing
in August/September is our primary annual fundraising event for the New You
Program, with auction items and raffle tickets sold to raise money for the
program.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Our partnership with the Pittsburgh Affiliate of Susan G. Komen (“Komen”) began
in 2006 when we received a $2,500 grant that allowed CREW to distribute our
Satchels to 100 women who would not otherwise have been reached and created an
exciting synergy between our two organizations. CREW volunteers have joined
Komen volunteers at their office to create and assemble Satchels for
distribution by Komen. Twice a year, Komen and CREW host a “pink badge” day at
Gilda’s Club, so that local Girl Scouts can earn their pink badge by sewing
buttons on Satchels, folding scarves, turban instructions, invitations and note
cards and adding ribbons to our journals, note cards, inspirational booklets and
bookmarks. Through our grant
renewal in late 2007 we were able to create and fill 600 satchels for Komen in
2008 and have received $10,000 for production in 2009.

the Cure and other Susan G. Komen events on our
community events page.
Designtex
Since February 2005, CREW Pittsburgh has
partnered with our local representative for Designtex, a leading contract
fabric and wall covering company. Custom fabric binders for the New You
Program have been distributed to all of the architectural and design firms in
the area. Whenever fabrics, upholstery or wall coverings from the special Designtex New You binder are ordered for a design project, a portion of the
sale proceeds goes to the CREW Pittsburgh Foundation. Manufacturers
participating in this Program also donate a significant amount of discontinued
fabrics that we use for creating the Satchels.
Pittsburgh Foundation Wish Book
The CREW Pittsburgh Foundation has been listed for
the second year running in the Pittsburgh Foundation’s Wish Book. Each year,
the Wish Book provides
individuals, families, organizations and corporations with an avenue for their
charitable giving, while they benefit from considerable tax savings.
Proceeds from the Wish Book are earmarked for the purchase of contents for our
satchels.
